Into Rock Climbing

There's many reasons why someone chooses to climb. For me it's about pushing thru mental blocks and figuring out how you fit within nature. Every movement is choreographed and prepared in your head. All other thoughts are unimportant. Only the next fluid motions.

The cacophony of mechanical clatter at the gym is quickly replaced by rustling leaves, rushing water, and wildlife whistles. Zen starts with a walk thru nature. Absorbing details. Dew in the morning; on the lookout for the sun.

Fingers trace the weaknesses left millions of years ago. A quick recap of gear and protocol, then everything stands still. That moment when all focus is on climbing... Climb On!

The moves flow as anticipated. Scanning for cues, the next sections link up until the end. At that moment, everything comes rushing back. The noise, the emotions. The brain becomes overwhelmed by what it shut out.

What climbing has taught me is sometimes you need to shut out noise in your life and hyper focus on what's really important. The rapids below are a great metaphor for the noise you experience in life and to help focus on what's important in life.
